Rather than head over to the treadmill to warm up before your weight lifting routine, skip it and instead warm up the actual muscles you will be working out. For a full body warm up quickly do some squats, dead-lifts, and bench press with minimal weight before you begin each workout.

Everyone wants to run further and further each time they get on the treadmill or go for a run. Some people extend their legs so they get less of a strain. If you want a better workout, you should increase the speed of your steps and not your stride.

If you are trying to exercise more ,you do not have to spend hours on the treadmill or elliptical. Try a new sport or brush up on unused skills. You could take tennis lessons, join a community softball team, or take up swimming. Not only will you learn something new, but your fitness level will increase and you may get social benefits as well.

If you do the same cardiovascular activity over and over again, it's time to switch it up. If you run on a treadmill all the time sometimes it's better to run outside. Outdoor running provides you with inclined planes, a different surface to run on (usually gravel or dirt), and a much more dynamic scenery than an indoor treadmill.

If you are walking on a treadmill for exercise, try not to hold onto the rails. You can touch them for balance but you should not have to hold on when walking or running. If you do have to hold on, you may want to consider lowering the intensity level as it may be too much.

Put it in reverse. If you typically work out on a treadmill or elliptical machine, try reversing your stride to enhance your muscles. Because your body is not accustomed to the reverse motion, it works different muscles and causes you to work harder. Gradually add a few minutes of reverse motion into each workout to really feel the burn and see results.
